CRASH OF A BRISTOL BEAUFORT
AT LETTS BEACH, NEAR "L" BOMBING RANGE, NEAR LAKE REEVE
ON 19 JULY 1945

RAAF Mark VII Bristol Beaufort A9-101 crashed at Letts Beach, near "L" bombing range near Lake Reeve in Victoria on 19 July 1945 after the port engine caught fire.
The crew of the aircraft was as follows:-

This aircraft was originally delivered to the RAAF in August 1942. It was converted to components after this crash.

Dear Peter,
The date of this accident was 19th July 1945 not 42 as my list said. In July 1997 I took Ossie Morgan back to the crashsite at Letts Beach. It has since been renamed Golden Beach. I have sent you several photos of the crash and Ossie Morgan. This aircraft also lost its airscrew in Jervis Bay earlier with No 6 OTU Nowra. The pilot P/O R.S.Roberts was later killed also at East Sale in Beaufort A9-176 on the 29th December 1944.
