Bristol Beaufort

RAAF Mark V Bristol Beaufort, A9-33 (RAF Serial No. T9585), was caught in a strong crosswind while landing at East Sale on 5 October 1943. The pilot swung to avoid a tower and went into a steep bank, cartwheeling as the port wing hit the ground. The pilot Flight Lieutenant K.K. Morcombe was killed in the crash. The other surviving crew member was Sergeant J. W Cameron.

This aircraft was originally delivered to the RAAF in April 1942. It was "not taken up".
