MORTAR BOMB FOUND
AT REDBANK PLAINS, QLD
ON 30 OCTOBER 2006
A REMNANT FROM WW2
![]()
A live 3" High Explosive (HE) mortar bomb was found at Redbank Plains west of Brisbane on 30 October 2006 about 500mm below the natural surface. It was found in a paddock between Cedar Road and School Road by a UXO contractor, Milsearch, as part of a scan of an area to be used by the Southern Regional Water Pipeline for the proposed water grid in south east Queensland.
The area where the mortar was found was part of the White Rock and Spring Mountain Live Firing Areas and was an army firing range for Australian and US troops during World War II.
Can anyone help me with more information?
