Hi Peter,
I Arrived on an ATC C-54 at Amberley Field, near Brisbane on December 3rd, 1943.
Rode a train from there to Townsville and then on to Charters Towers where we did some B-25 proficiency training. While there we navigated a couple of flights of P-47s to Moresby, via Horn Island. Great way to ease into the combat zone.
Flew combat from Moresby, Nadzab, Hollandia, Biak, Morotai, Lingayen, and Okinawa. Flew 88 missions. Returned to the US November 19th, 1945. Best part of the war was Sydney! You people treated us like kings; really felt "at home" over there. We thank you fine people for great hospitality!
All the best,
Harry E. "Terry" Terrell, Jr.
