CRASH OF A BRISTOL BEAUFORT
AT PATS RIVER, FLINDERS ISLAND
ON 15 NOVEMBER 1942

 

RAAF Mark VII Bristol Beaufort A9-100 force landed at Pats River, on Flinders Island on 15 November 1942 after the starboard engine failed at 500 feet during an approach wheels and flaps down at Pats River. The aircraft struck the leeward fence. The aircraft was not repairable but salvageable.

The crew of the aircraft was as follows:-

F/O R.W. Burridge
Sgt. Thomas
Sgt. J.M. Shanahan
Sgt. L. Morrison

This aircraft was originally delivered to the RAAF in August 1942. It was converted to components after this crash.
