No. 49 Radar RAAF was initially based at Sandgate, north of Brisbane in Queensland from 11 July 1943 with Flying Officer H.H. King as Commanding Officer. They moved to Point Lookout on Stradbroke Island on 29 August 1943. They remained at Point Lookout until 15 April 1946.
A US Army Early Warning Radar Unit had also been based at Point Lookout on Stradbroke Island.

location of 49 Radar Site at Point Lookout for me?
