IN AUSTRALIA DURING WW2

No. 12 Fighter Sector Headquarters was formed in Townsville on 11 Mar 1943. The unit moved to Cairns on 24 Mar 1943. They embarked from Cairns on 26 Jun 1943 and disembarked at Horn Island on 28 Jun 1943.

The Unit was disbanded on 10 Apr 1944 but it was reformed at Ballarat on 17 Apr 1944. They moved to Townsville on 13 May 1944 and embarked from Townsville on 1 Jan 1945. They disembarked at Torokina on 5 Jan 1945.

The unit was finally disbanded on 29 Jan 1946.
