CRASH OF A BOOMERANG
AT GUILDFORD AIRFIELD, WA
ON 22 SEPTEMBER 1943

Boomerang A46-31 of 85 Squadron RAAF, piloted by 20 year old Sgt. Boyd Olwyn Wolf (423274), stalled after turning sharply just after take-off from Guildford Airfield, Western Australia after recovering from a bad landing on 22 September 1943 at 1505 hours. Sgt. Wolf was killed in this crash. He was buried at the Perth War Cemetery and Annex, Grave G.C.4, following an Air Force funeral. His name can be found at Panel 104 in the Commemorative Area of the Australian War Memorial. He is also remembered on a Knox Grammar School Old Boys War Memorial, in Wahroonga NSW.
