CRASH OF A DH-94 MOTH MINOR
AT DUNREATH GOLF COURSE, REDCLIFFE,
IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA ON 20 MARCH 1940

DH-94 Moth Minor VH-ADB at Maylands in Western Australia on 3 February 1940

On 20 March 1940, DH-94 Moth Minor VH-ADB (Airframe No. 94077) crashed at Dunreath Golf Course at Redcliffe in Western Australia killing both the RAAF instructor and the trainee. The aircraft was on contract to the RAAF for basic training.

The aircraft was entered onto the Aircraft Register on 15 February 1940 and was eventually struck off the Register on 19 June 1940.

The Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour Database shows only one person being killed on 20 March 1940. His name was Allan John MacPherson. He is probably one of the two people killed in this crash.

Karrakatta is a suburb of Perth, and the cemetery is five miles from Perth by rail. It is in Railway Road, opposite the railway station. Here, too, is situated Perth (Karrakatta) Crematorium.
