The War Diary for Patrol Squadron One Hundred and One had the following entry:-
WAR DIARY
For March 1944.
| Mar. 1 | Three (3)
planes Ferry flight, Perth to Adelaide. Nine (9) planes local training flights (Midair collision between PBY-5 Bureau number 08134 of VP-101 and PBY-5 Bureau number 08297 of VP-11 resulted in slight injury to pilot of PBY-5 Bureau number 08134. Damage to both planes repairable. |
PBY-5 Catalina Bu. No. 08134 sank in another incident in the Perth area on 7 March 1944.
