CRASH OF AN AVRON ANSON
AT CARDABIA STATION, POINT MAUD, WA
ON 30 SEPTEMBER 1942

Avro Anson AX299 of 4 Service Flying Training School 4SFTS at RAAF Geraldton, crash landed at approximately 1430 hours W.A.S.T. on 30 September 1942 in a marsh at Cardabia Station, Point Maud in Western Australia at a location approximately 140 miles north of Carnarvon.
One crew member was killed and two survived the crash landing:-
Sergeant Douglas Dunn (411301) - Pilot - Cuts and abrasions
Pilot Officer Clive Frederick Bingham (413515) - Killed
Sergeant Edgar James Thomson (414101) - Slight haemorrhage
The mainplane of the Anson was smashed, the undercarriage was damaged and the engines were smahed.
