CRASH LANDING OF A P-40E
KITTYHAWK
AT ARCHERFIELD AIRFIELD, BRISBANE, QLD
ON 12 MARCH 1942
![]()
P-40E Kittyhawk A29-27 ran off the runway into soft ground on landing at Archerfield Airfield on 12 March 1942 and tipped on its nose, damaging considerably the airscrew and starboard wing.
It wasn’t until the 6 April 1942 that it was received by 75 Squadron RAAF officially. This seems to be purely administrational, as it was issued to 2AD from the 10 April 1942. It never flew again.
