FORCED LANDING OF AN AVRO ANSON
AT ASHGROVE HILL, NEAR GYMPIE, QLD
ON 20 JULY 1941

Avro Anson R.3561 of No 3 Service Flying Training School, Amberley (3 SFTS) piloted by LAC Edwin Henry Ridler (405325) made a forced landing after the starboard engine failed and ran through a fence at Ashgrove Hill near Gympie, Queensland at approximately 1015 hours on 20 July 1941. The pilot was uninjured.

The undercarriage, starboard wing tip, port mainplane and both airscrews were damaged.

Avro Anson R.3561 of No 6 Service Flying Training School, (6 SFTS) was later involved in a fatal crash 5 miles north of Hoyleton, South Australia on 13 May 1942.
