CRASH OF A GIPSY MOTH
AT ARCHERFIELD AIRFIELD,
BRISBANE, QLD,
ON 24 JANUARY 1940

Gipsy Moth A7-122 (VH-UIQ) of 2 Elementary Flying Training School 2 EFTS at Archerfield, crashed at Archerfield Airfield, Brisbane at 1100 hours on 24 January 1940.
Previous landings had caused the starboard leg to collapse after take off. On landing the undercarriage collapsed and the aircraft overturned. The airscrew, undercarriage, mainplanes and rudder were extensively damaged. The pilot Air Cadet L.W. Thomas who was flying solo, was uninjured.
Can anyone help me with more information on this crash?
