FORCED LANDING OF A P-38H LIGHTNING
17 MILES SOUTH OF BRISBANE, QLD

P-38H Lightning #42-66530, of 433rd Fighter Squadron, 475th Fighter Group made a forced landing 17 miles south of Brisbane, Queensland on the 5 July 1943. The Pilot was Lt Richard E. Dotson.
The USAAF Cemetery at Ipswich records show that a 2nd Lt Richard E. Dotson, Jr. 0-743322, who died on 5 July 1943 was buried at the USAF Cemetery at Ipswich on 8 July 1943.
The book "Possum, Clover & Hades" indicates that 2nd Lt Dotson may have been in Headquarters Squadron and he was killed in a training accident.
