CRASH LANDING OF A C-47A DAKOTA
WHICH DAMAGED TWO OTHER C-47A DAKOTAS

AT TOWNSVILLE ON 1 DECEMBER 1943

On 1 December 1943, a USAAF C-47A Dakota #43-30752 (msn 13903) piloted by Anthony Reyers of the 21st Troop Carrier Squadron of the 374th Troop Carrier Group, was damaged at Townsville when its landing gear failed on landing at Garbutt Airfield. This C-47A then hit two other C-47A's of the 21st Troop Carrier Squadron that were parked at Garbutt Airfield, namely #42-24227 (msn 10089) and #43-30755 (msn 13906). C-47A #43-30755 was able to be salvaged.

 

NOTE:- Mike Stowe (Accident-Report.Com) has a C-47A Dakota #43-30752, crashing on 1 December 1943 at Townsville.
