IN THE BRISBANE AREA, QLD
ON 14 AUGUST 1943
![]()
Glider Pilot, Flight Officer Oscar Handly, Jr., T-121158 (14092227) from Tennessee, died in the Brisbane area on 14 August 1943. He was buried at the USAF Cemetery at Ipswich in south east Queensland on 17 August 1943. He was exhumed at the end of the war and returned to the States where he was buried in Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery, Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee.
I am trying to find out if he died in a glider crash or a ground accident or due to an illness. All that is known is that he died "Non Battle in Brisbane, Australia" and he was the son of Oscar Handly and Franklin Lubbock Miller and he was the husband of Laura H. Handly.
