AT DARWIN, NT

B-24 Liberator
B-24J Liberator, A72-317, ex USAAF No. #44-28122, of 12 Squadron RAAF, was destroyed by an engine fire after take off at RAAF Airfield at Darwin in the Northern Territory on 23 September 1945.

cockpit of the closest Liberator
in the Liberator dump at Darwin in February 1946
This aircraft was involved in an earlier landing accident at RAAF Airfield Darwin in June 1945.
The aircraft was converted to components. It had been delivered to the RAAF in April 1945.
