CRASH OF A WALRUS
AT BATCHELOR, NT
ON 14 APRIL 1944

On 14 April 1944, RAAF Walrus I, Serial X9520 crashed at Batchelor Airfield in the Northern Territory. While making a circuit to land, its engine cut out and the pilot made a cross-wind forced landing on a rough part of the airfield with the undercarriage still retracted. The Walrus overturned and was badly damaged. The pilot received slight injuries and the other three occupants were uninjured. The aircraft was written off and converted to components on 16 May 1944.

This aircraft was involved in an earlier accident when it abandoned a take off on 6 December 1943 at Cape Don in the Northern Territory and damaged the port float and lower mainplane.

Can anyone help me with more information on this crash?
