CRASH OF A SIKORSKY KINGFISHER
OFF THE NEW SOUTH WALES COAST,
POSSIBLY NEAR RATHMINES
ON 14 JANUARY 1943

RAAF Sikorsky Kingfisher, A48-8, of 107 Squadron RAAF, piloted by Pilot Officer M. Wiley made a forced landing in the sea and sunk after an engine failure on 14 January 1943 off the New South Wales coast, possibly near Rathmines. Wiley's Navigator on this flight was Flight Sergeant D. Bradbury. They were taking part in an operational patrol at the time of this accident. The crew were rescued by the crew of the American Liberty Ship "S.S. Henry Dearborn".
