CRASH OF A P-39 AIRACOBRA
AT BANKSTOWN AIRFIELD, NSW

P-39 Airacobra, A53-7, of 24 Squadron RAAF suffered an engine failure at 1615 hrs E.A.S.T. on 6 October 1942 and made a forced landing at Bankstown Airfield. Its undercarriage was not fully locked in the down position. The airscrew and undercarriage were damaged as a result of the forced landing. The pilot was Warrant Officer W.R. Harris (1855). He was not injured in theis accident.
Can anyone help me with more information on this crash?
