CRASH OF A LOCKHEED HUDSON
ON NORFOLK ISLAND
ON 3 OCTOBER 1944

On 3 October 1944, Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) Lockheed Hudson Mark III, # 2022, was involved in a "taxy accident" on Norfolk Island. The aircraft's tail struck a bank at the edge of the runway. The pilot was relying on a signalman, but failed to notice that the bats were reversed.

The pilot's logbook was endorsed with the comment "carelessness". The accident was noted as similar to another taxying accident involving Hudson #2057 the previous day.
