CRASH OF A P-40E KITTYHAWK
AT CANBERRA, ACT
ON 28 FEBRUARY 1942

P-40 Kittyhawk

 

P-40E Kittyhawk #41-5365 #85 piloted by 2nd Lieutenant Leonard P. Marks, crashed at Canberra on the 28 February 1942 when its landing gear collapsed whilst landing. 2nd Lt. Marks was uninjured. It was then renumbered as #61 White with the 8th Pursuit Squadron.

This aircraft had crashed earlier on 24 January 1942, when 2nd Lt. Jack R. Peres belly landed his P-40E Kittyhawk #41-5365 #85, at Fort Lytton in Brisbane,
