CRASH OF A P-40E KITTYHAWK
AT CANBERRA, ACT
ON AN UNKNOWN DATE POSSIBLY IN 1942

On an unknown date in 1942, possibly late Feb or very early March 1942, USAAF P-40E Kittyhawk, Serial No. #41-5455, piloted by 2nd Lieutenant W. B. Harris, nosed over at Canberra Airfield in the Australian Capital Territory after it braked suddenly while taxying, to avoid hitting another aircraft which was taking off at the time. An engine change was required along with partial nose and propellor repairs. The aircraft was relocated to Geelong after the accident.
