KOALA ORDNANCE SERVICE

DURING WW2
The US Army built a large Stores Depot at Stuart near Townsville which became known as the Koala Ordnance Service Center. It housed all ordnance activities except ammunition supplies. It was located on the site of today's Stuart Cement Works.
The May 1944 HQS Base Section Two, APO 922, Telephone Directory showed:-
