AT BLYTH RIVER
NEAR MILLINGIMBI, NT
ON 17 SEPTEMBER 1943
![]()
Mark IC Beaufighter, A19-70 (RAF Serial No. T5098) of 31 Squadron RAAF, piloted by Mr. Mann, made a forced landing in a swamp at Blyth River near Millingimbi in the Northern Territory on 17 September 1943.
This aircraft had been delivered to the RAAF in October 1942. The records of 4 RSU show that they carried out salvage operations on this aircraft from Point Stuart in June 1943 and again carried out a 40 hour inspection on this aircraft in June 1943.
It was salvaged by 4 RSU and "Written Off" by 5AD and converted to components after the 17 September 1943 accident.
