LIBERATOR DAMAGED BY FIRE
AT TOCUMWAL, NSW

B-24D Liberator, A72-4, ex USAAF #42-40489 "Miss Giving", was partly destroyed in a fire at Tocumwal in New South Wales on 2 October 1944.
The Liberator was transferred to the RAAF from the 528th Bomb Squadron of the 380th Bomb Group on 15 February 1944. It had 596 airframe hours and 27 missions completed at the time of the transfer. It arrived at 7 OTU on 19 March 1944.
Another Liberator, A72-1, was also partly destroyed in a fire at Tocumwal on the same day.
Can anyone help me with more information?
