CRANBROOK ANTI-AIRCRAFT SEARCHLIGHT BATTERY
SYDNEY, NSW DURING WW2

The men at Cranbrook Anti-aircraft Searchlight Battery lived in tents at Cranbrook Oval, Rose Bay. The Cooking was done in the open on improvised cooking facilities. They took part in air co-op and manning drills on most nights. At the end of the night's training two sentries were posted to guard the equipment.

The headmaster of the nearby Cranbrook School was not happy with the Searchlight Battery being located near the school as he believed it distracted the boys at the school. Corporal Lloyd Wedlock, the Detachment Commander at Cranbrook Oval displayed exceptional god manners and diplomacy in one encounter with the headmaster.
