Duke Sumonia is searching for info on Sgt Ralph T Newbold, of the 530 Bomb Squadron, 380th Bomb Group, 5th Air Force, who was killed on 21 September 1943. The B-24 Liberator that he was in may have crashed on landing. Was R/O, Turret Gunner.

THANK YOU for your response. He crashed into Sugar Loaf Hill, 3 miles from airfield at Fenton (in Northern Territory south east of Darwin) in B-24 42-40509, named NOTHING SACRED. Since my query I have found a lot of info. There is a little mystery, one source says no survivors while another said there was an extra passenger, a photographer who survived.
It was their 1st mission and they went to Langgoer Islands. Would appreciate any more info.

Can anyone help me with more information?
