RESUME OF PROPERTY OWNED OR LEASED BY THE DUNNS BUNAVON 1. Some old paperwork in the possession of Terry Stratford in Sep 1991
shows the following notations. It is unclear whether these are Henry Dunn's
or Joseph Dunn's records:-

2. Records at the State Archives give the following information:-
(i) RUNS - RENT INDEX 1860 - 1906
BUNAVON TRE/2 Page 269
BUNAVON RUN
AREA - 10 square miles
Stephen Egan applied to rent Bunavon on 6 June 1883 for an annual
rental of 20 Pounds. He paid this rental until 1888 with the last
rent of 20 Pounds being paid on 28 September 1888. It would appear
that the run was then selected and transferred to Stephen Joseph
Egan on 13 July 1888.
NOTE:- This may or may not be Portion 1V or 2V.

BUNAVON RUN
Joseph Dunn made application on 29 August 1888 for rent of Portion
1V, County of Liebig, Parish of Bunavon.
AREA - 6, 240 acres
His lease commenced on 1 January 1889.
ANNUAL RENTAL - 19 Pounds, 10 Shillings (3/4 pence per acre).
INITIAL SURVEY FEE - 23 Pounds, 16 Shillings.
He paid the Annual Rental up to and including 1896. There is a form
on file on which Henry Dunn and C.L. Ohl have declared that Joseph
Dunn resided on the property from February 1889 to 5 October 1892
which is the date that they signed the form. Joseph was unable to
pay at that time (1897 and 1898) due to hardships due to drought and
floods and he forfeited the lease on 6 April 1899 and Bunavon was
re-opened to selection on 17 May 1899. There is a letter on file
dated 25 March 1896 seeking deferment of payment due to severe
losses through drought and flood.
Joseph made application again for the lease on 6 December 1899 and
recommenced the lease on 1 January 1900.
ANNUAL RENTAL - 19 Pounds, 10 Shillings.
He continued paying this amount until 1921. The rent increased to 32
Pounds, 10 Shillings for the next 5 years. The rent appears to drop
back to 19 Pounds, 10 Shillings from 1931 to 1934. The property
records transferred to a new ledger on 9 March 1936.
3. Modern maps (1990's) show that Portion 1V (G.F. 9661), is now called
"Tralangie" and owned by M. and L.F. Hanrahan. It is 2,589.988
hectares in area. It has the Fitzroy River as its northern boundary
and Mosquito Creek flows through the property. The property
immediatley to the south east of "Tralangie" is called "Bunavon"
(Portion 2V). It is owned by M.C. Hanrahan.
The Parish of Bunavon is immediatley to the west of the Parish of
Windah. "Tralangie" is to the west of Rosewood and north west of
Westwood. Moora Plains is on the other side of the Fitzroy River to
the south east of "Tralangie".
MOURA OR MOORA PLAINS
1. Some old paperwork in the possession of Terry Stratford in Sep 1991
shows the following notation:-
"Sold
Dec 1900 Number 1728
To Joseph Dunn
Moora Plains Selection For 90 Pounds
Paid
Henry Dunn"
It is believed that these papers probably belonged to Joseph Dunn Senior or
Henry Dunn his younger brother.
2. At the State Archives there is an index called "Index to Survey Office
cancelled 'B' size plans". The following entry is listed:-
F7/15 1880 Henry Dunn
Portion 1728 (This is the block, Moora Plains, sold for 90
Pounds to Joseph Dunn by Henry Dunn or vice versa in December
1900).
Parish of Windah,
County of Pakington, Qld
Surveyed by L.F. Landsberg,
November 1880.
3. The Marriage Certificate for Christian Ludwig Ohl and Martha Dunn shows
that Martha Dunn was living at Nora (sic) Plain, Westwood in June 1884.
4. The 1909 Commonwealth Electoral Rolls, Division of Capricornia,
Subdivision of Livingstone, show Joseph and Mary Ann Dunn living at Moura
Plains, Westwood. Joseph is shown as a farmer, with Mary Ann, his wife, on
home duties.
5. Modern maps show a location called Moora Plains north north west of
Gogango near the Fitzroy River. Moora Plains is south east of Bunavon. WINDAH RUN 1. Henry Dunn used to own a Queensland Brands Directory, dated 1894. It
is now in the possession of Terry Stratford. It contains the following
details:-
NAME RUN OR FARM NEAREST BRAND
TOWN
Joseph Dunn Wendah (sic) Westwood D42
Joseph Dunn Windah Westwood D42
Maria Dunn Windah Westwood No3
Henry Dunn Gracemere Gracemere 5HU
2. There was a large Run known as Windah, 34 square miles. It was rented
by Cowper and Crozier from 1869 to 1873. It was forfeited in 1873 offered
for sale from 1875 until 1880. The Run was subdivided into Windah No. 1 and
No. 2 in 1880. They were both offered for sale by Auction on 23 March 1880
but no offers were received. Windah No. 1 was offered for sale again in 1882
again without a bid.
Windah No. 1, 20 square miles, was rented by J.T. Bartholomew from 1883 to
1897. Windah No. 2, 10 square miles, was rented by D.J. Martin from 1882 to
1886.
It is unclear whether these particular Windah Runs are connected to the
Dunns. 3. At the State Archives there is an Index called "Index to Survey Office
cancelled 'B' size plans". The following entries appear:-
F7/15 1880 Henry Dunn
