I was provided with information from a Tony Roche (ajroche@iol.ie) who said he had a copy of the Marriage
Certificate for Maurice Caplice and Mary Riordan. The information he gave me is as
follows:-
Maurice Caplice and Mary Riordan married 22 Nov 1867 (Brian Hickey believes that this
should be 22 Feb 1867)
MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
Marriage at Roman Catholic Chapel of Clogheen in Registrar District of Clogheen
in the Union of Clogheen in the County of Tipperary.
Maurice 30 yrs, occupation Labourer,
Father's Name - Michael
Father's Occupation - Farmer
Mary, 22 yrs
Occupation - None
Father's Name - Jeremiah
Father's occupation - Labourer
Witnesses Thomas Lonergan (hard to read) and Catherine Condon
Married in the RC Chapel of Ballyporeen, Co. Tipperary.
Address of both at date of Marriage given as Toorbeg
Mary Riordan placed her mark on the Marriage Certificate which was witnessed by Richard
O'Gorman.
NOTE: Brian Hickey believes they were married in the RC Church of Clogheen, which is the
parish church for the residents of the Townland of Toorbeg.
Maurice was a gardener at Shanbally Estate.
Maurice died from Senile Debility.
