VICTORIA BARRACKS TUNNELS
FROM VICTORIA BARRACKS TO SHRINE OF REMEMBRANCE
POSSIBLY USED DURING WWII AND EARLIER
DO THEY EXIST?
![]()
I was told at a meeting in Sydney in early 2009 that VIC Roads had encountered a number of tunnels running from the Victoria Barracks in Melbourne under St Kilda Road towards the Shrine of Remembrance. I assume this was associated with design and construction works for the Domain and Burnley Tunnels. My source indicated that VIC Roads had plans showing these tunnels. Do these tunnels date back to pre Federation Days? Do they actually exist?
Can anyone help me with more information?
