ROTTNEST ISLAND BATTERY
WESTERN AUSTRALIA
DURING WW2
![]()
There were some fixed Coast Defence guns located on Rottnest Island off the Western Australian coast during WW2. It is believed that these guns were manned by the same artillery unit responsible for the Buckland Hill Battery. An Army Reserve Recovery Unit helped to haul away the last of the guns in the early 1980's.
There are stories about a network of tunnels linking the Rottnest Island Battery with the Army Depot on Rottnest Island.
