CRASH OF A WIRRAWAY

AT QUINALOW ABOUT 70 KMS SSW OF KINGAROY

Wirraway A20-286 in field near Quinalow

 

RAAF Wirraway A20-286, of 5 Squadron RAAF, crash landed, at about 1600 hours on 12 April 1943 after a pilot navigational exercise. At that point in time, 5 Squadron was based at Kingaroy. The aircraft suffered an engine failure due to the failure of a push-rod and force landed in a field at Quinalow, causing considerable damage. The two crew members were slightly injured and were as follows:-

Sgt. Francis Bruce Oswell (12670)
