CRASH OF A LOCKHEED VENTURA
AT MARYBOROUGH, QLD
ON 8 JUNE 1944

RAAF Lockheed Ventura, A59-73, ex Bu. 48906, c/n 6142, was visiting Maryborough airfield in Queensland on 8 June 1944. It ran into a fence when it aborted a take-off and was damaged beyond repair. No. 3 Wireless Air Gunners School was situated at Maryborough at this time during the war.
This aircraft was originally received into the RAAF at 2AD on 13 March 1944. Approval was given to convert it to components on 12 October 1945.
NOTE:- The book "Not to be Shot at or Exported" states that this prang was on 7 June 1944.
