Wirraway
A Wirraway from 24 Squadron RAAF crashed at Townsville on Monday 30 June 1941, during dive bombing practice when a wing collapsed when pulling out of a dive. The two crew were killed:-

| Sergeant Albert Glance (210073) |
Mervyn Finster was 19 years old when he died in this crash. He was the son of Arthur Alexander and Eva Maria Finster, of Hawthorn. He was buried at the Burwood General Cemetery, Victoria, Australia, Grave Reference/Panel Number: C. of E. Plot. Sec. 5. Grave 192.
Albert Glance was 25 years old when he died in this crash. He was the son of John Jacob and Lily May Glance, of Invercargill, Southland, New Zealand. He was buried in the civil section of Townsville cemetery, Grave Reference/Panel Number: E. Plot. Sec. F5. Grave 6.
