CRASH OF BEAUFIGHTER A8-131
AT KINGAROY, QLD
ON 25 FEBRUARY 1945

Beaufighter A8-131 of 93 Squadron RAAF swung on take off from Kingaroy Airfield on 25 February 1945. Corrective action by the pilot F/Sgt G. J. McLeod was unsuccessful and the swing developed even further and the aircraft subsequently ground looped. Its port undercarriage collapsed as a result of the ground loop.

Those on board at the time were as follows:-

F/Sgt Graeme John McLeod (428425) - pilot
W/Off Stanley Ernest Leviston (410932) - Navigator
Sgt Ridgnel Herbert Garrett (435936) - W/T Operator
Sgt Maxwell John Paige (442632)
Sgt Ian David Rolley (75220)

Beaufighter A8-131 was written off and converted to components on 24 July 1945.
