CRASH OF P-40 KITTYHAWK
7 MILES SOUTH OF WEST HILL ISLAND, QLD

Kittyhawk
RAAF P-40N Kittyhawk, A29-511 (#42-105359), crashed into the sea, 7 miles south of West Hill Island about 2 miles offshore (Broadsound area). The Kittyhawk was on its way from Bundaberg to Townsville. The pilot of this aircraft was Sgt. D.G. Willum. This aircraft was delivered to the RAAF in September 1943.
