DO YOU KNOW THIS
CHIEF COMMISSARY STEWARD?
Do you know who this Chief Commissary
Steward was
who served as a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy during WWII
and spent time in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia?
He was in Sydney in about late 1945 to early 1946.
He was possibly attached to Base 135 Sydney.
Or may have been on board USS Birmingham
which
spent time in Australia at that time helping to
close down all the US Navy Stations in Australia
A few possibilities are the following:-
Eloby Prentis Rish - Not sure where he was in the time period of interest
Emmet Gus Compton - CCSA on USS Birmingham on 21 Oct 1945
Lloyd F. Moeller - CCS on USS Birmingham 1 Sep 1945
James D. Jenkins - CCSA in Aviation Unit on USS Birmingham on 1 Aug 1946
CCS = Chief Commissary Steward
CCSA - Chief Commissary Steward Acting
