A PIALBA WEDDING.

JENSEN-BERTHELSEN

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

A very popular wedding took place took place in the Danish Chapel, Nikenbah, the Rev. Aswel Apted officiating, on the 28th July, last, the contracting parties being Mr. Lewis C. P., the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Jensen, and Miss Albena, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Berthelsen. This union connects two of our oldest pioneer families, as the Jensen and the Berthelsens were amongst the first families to settle here, and helped by their grit and thrift to make Pialba the important and thriving industrious centre she now is.
The youthful bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a white silk striped chiffoneere dress, the bodice being draped and trimmed with ivory insertion and overall lace, tunic skirt with slight train, veil and wreath of orange blossoms and lillies of the valley. The chief bridesmaids, Misses Alvilda and Ena Berthelsen, wore cream voille, tucked skirt and braided bodice, with drooping white crinoline hats to match. The junior bridesmaids Misses Eva Berthelsen and Tilly Moes, wore blue mercerised  muslin, trimmed with valenciennes lace and insertion, and white silk hats. The bride carried a very handsome bouquet of white camelias and asparagus, very tastefully arranged, and presented by Miss Aldridge (Booral), and the bridesmaids carried bouquets of white and pink roses and Margaret daisies and violets. The bridegroom's presents to the bridesmaids were a gold pendant dress ring, and gold-bar brooches. The dresses were made by Miss Concannon (Maryborough). The church was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride, and Miss Tooth presided at the organ, and played the wedding march.

After the ceremony the company adjourned to the bride's parents' residence, where a very large assemblage of between two and three hundred guests (apologies for inability to attend being received from Mr. and Mrs. N. Tooth and several others) sat down to a very sumptuous and substantial wedding feast, the centre piece on the table being a handsome three-tier wedding cake (from Stellmach's establishment, Maryborough). Mr. and Mrs. Tom Berthelsen presented the young couple with a sulky, horse, and harness, and Mr. and Mrs. G. Jensen's gift was a very handsome mother-of-pearl bedstead and furnishings. The other wedding presents were extremely numerous, valuable, and handsome.
